Marcin Popczyński

Senior PHP / Laravel Developer · Łódź, Poland & remote

For twelve years I built online shops for other people. Now I’m building my own.

01 / Where I came from

$ git log --since=2013 --oneline | wc -l

Twelve years of backend in PHP and Laravel

I started in 2013 as an intern. I worked my way from junior to senior all at the same software house, and for the last few years I ran the backend for online pharmacies and beauty retailers. Heavy traffic, real money, and integrations that have to keep running overnight.

I built two accounting systems, among other things, with document data fed straight into the warehouse system.

After hours, over the years, I built a lot of websites: from simple one-pagers through complex software, currency-exchange integrations and blogs built for search, to plugins made to order. Plus consulting and passing on what I know.

02 / What I’m building now

$ php artisan queue:work --queue=sklep,cv,rynek

My own e-commerce system

Everything I learned in twelve years of building other people’s shops is going into a platform of my own. Built from the ground up, on my terms.

Alongside it I’m building a CV builder: a tool where the live preview is exactly the finished file, because both come out of the same engine.

There is also an AI-assisted investing tool in progress: an analytical layer over market data, which I’m building mostly for myself.

Away from code I run BajeczkaTV, a children’s bedtime story channel where the whole pipeline is automated, plus a lo-fi music brand built on AI-generated tracks.

03 / AI and automation

$ supervisorctl status | grep RUNNING

Running more than one system at once

BajeczkaTV runs on a production AI pipeline that automates content creation and publishing. The live channel shows this is a process, not a demo.

I build my e-commerce platform with agents, Claude Code and MCP as everyday tools.

04 / Where I’m headed

$ php artisan migrate --force # production

Senior developer, not just code

Engineering stays my foundation, but I’m open to roles broader than writing code: running projects, rollouts, working closer to the product and to people.

AI does a lot of that work now, and that changes what this job is. I want to see how far I get with it.

I’m also taking a cybersecurity course. After twelve years around shops, payments and integrations, I want to see that code from the side of what can go wrong.
